DESIGNS :: SHELF BRACKET
When I decided to use a glass shelf as part of a snack bar area, I created these shelf brackets to add a clean and modern feel to the wood and granite used in the rest of the kitchen peninsula. The design derived from an idea I had had a few years earlier for a handrail bracket that a client chose not to use. The brackets were machined from stainless steel. When my cabinetmaker saw them, he suggested that I enter them in a design competition sponsored by the hardware company, Doug Mockett. They were chosen as the award-winning submission across all categories in the annual Doug Mockett Design Competition in 2003. The bracket is now available as part of the Doug Mockett catalogue of high-end hardware offered worldwide.
